A global fortune 500 electronic goods distribution company managed each of its regional operations separately; in order to increase efficiency, they sought to consolidate a large percentage of their local systems into one larger global system.
- Every region operated independently with its own business process, reports, and data management procedures
- The client decided to shit their core processes into a single global SAP system and centralize the majority of the back office work into a single global shared service organization
- In order for this model to function correctly, a global data governance group had to be developed along with process changes and staff training
- The client needed one central data architecture that would fit their new shared services model
The New Leaf Solution
We managed data migration and business intelligence on the project as well as staffing the data governance team; New Leaf expertise helped to ensure the project’s success.
- New Leaf’s staffers lead the data migration effort on the project; we effectively brought together all the enterprise information from around the globe into one unified system
- We consolidated, de-duplicated, and migrated over 3 million products
- We lead a detailed report consolidation process that removed all duplicate regional reports and provided a core list of globally relevant data entries
- Along with the newly cleansed and properly governed data and transactional reports, we developed new predictive demand reporting to better forecast sales trends
- We orchestrated the business intelligence arm of the project so that our client would improve its effectiveness at analyzing raw data
- We helped to create processes, standard operating procedures, metadata repositories, data dictionaries, and data glossaries in order to pass the initial steps of the data governance maturity model before the new shared services group and SAP system’s launch
- We ensured that the client was as prepared as possible for the move to the centralized system
